PETALING JAYA: Malaysians of all faiths voiced their concern on Twitter and Facebook for the two nuns who were attacked outside a church in Seremban on Wednesday.

Many expressed hope that the nuns would recover from the shocking attack believed to be by snatch thieves.

Nurul Jamaluddin in a Facebook posting wished them a speedy recovery, saying she never expected an incident like this to happen in her hometown.

Susila Devi also prayed for their speedy recovery and hoped that those responsible would be punished.

“They are devoted humans who have dedicated their life to you. How could this happen to them in front of a holy place,” she said.

The two nuns, believed to have been victims of a robbery attempt, were found sprawled at the entrance of the Church of Visitation at 6am along Jalan Yam Tuan.

Sister Julianna Lim, in her late 60s, slipped into a coma while Sister Marie Rose alias Theresa Teng, 79, was badly injured although she has regained consciousness.

Raja Noor Rohaini said she was sorry to hear about the incident and wished a speedy recovery for the two nuns.

Celestina Je said she prayed for the healing of the nuns and God's mercy for the attackers.

According to church members, several snatch thefts had happened in the area in recent months.

The Church in a Facebook post said they would not be making any statements on the incident as it was under police investigation.

They also requested the media to respect the privacy of the victims.
