KUALA LUMPUR: Seputeh MP Teresa Kok is expected to be charged with sedition at the Jalan Duta High Court at 9.30am today over her Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014 video.
City deputy CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa confirmed that Kok would be hauled to court and that police had wrapped up investigations into the video under Section 505 (B) of the Penal Code and Section 233 (1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
However, ACP Khairi refrained from commenting whether Kok would be charged under the Sedition Act.
The 11-minute video uploaded on Jan 27 shows Kok as a host interviewing three feng shui (Chinese geomancy) practitioners in Cantonese and Mandarin on their predictions for the new year. The video led to protests from some Muslim non-governmental organisations, claiming that the DAP leader had used current issues to run down the Malays.
One group slaughtered chickens in public and smeared their blood on a poster featuring Pakatan Rakyat leaders, and then issued a RM1,500 reward for anyone who could slap Kok over her video.
