KUALA LUMPUR: A group of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) gathered at the Bukit Aman police on Wednesday to hand copies of a recent Court of Appeal decision, which declared that it is unconstitutional to prosecute rally organisers who do not provide 10 days notice to police, to the Inspector-General of Police ahead of the May 1 anti-GST rally.
At 2pm, a small group with representatives from various NGOs which included Lawyers for Liberty, Bersih, Suaram, Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) and Amnesty International handed copies of the judgment to the IGP’s representative, Assistant chief inspector-general of police secretariat Asst Comm Datin Asmawati Ahmad.
