Engineer gets stay on RM1.75mil fine for bribery


GEORGE TOWN: A former Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) consultant engineer has succeeded in getting a stay for a RM1.75mil fine imposed on him for receiving a RM350,000 bribe.

High Court judge Zamani Abdul Rahim allowed Chua Beng Seong’s application for the stay in chambers yesterday pending the hearing of his appeal against his sentence and conviction.
