KUALA LUMPUR: The Star media group’s Bahasa Malaysia portal mStar Online has been relaunched, with its website getting a fresher look.

Calling the launch historical, Star Publications (M) Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said mStar Online had come a long way since it was first started eight years ago, attracting more than three million visitors each month.

“We are determined to make mStar Online the most prominent Malay portal in Malaysia and the platform for consumers to go to in understanding current affairs and other news,” he said at the launch in Alexis Gardens, Mid Valley here yesterday.

Together with a new layout for its website, mStar Online will now have current, business and sports news aside from entertainment, which has been its most popular feature.

“This is a new start for mStar Online after a long time. It is now more attractive, vibrant, colourful and easier to navigate,” said mStar Online executive editor Rozaid A. Rahman.

The website greeted its readers with the new look on March 9, which has since received various feedback from the public.

Rozaid said although some readers wanted the website to stick to the old layout, there were encouraging comments on the breezier look, themed Meraikan Aspirasi Dunia Maya (Celebrating the Aspiration of the Virtual World).

A major change includes a new sliding panel called “Main Display” at the top of the website, which rotates 10 top items with pictures at an automatic interval of seven seconds.

Guests at the launch were also entertained by local singers Riz of Akademi Fantasia fame, Anuar Zain and Alyah.
