PETALING JAYA: The Federal Constitution must be amended so that civil courts can decide outcomes in cases where they have conflicting jurisdiction with the Syariah courts, the MCA Youth Legal Bureau said.
Bureau chairman Choo Wei Sern called for the “grey area” in the constitution governing judicial conflict between the two legal systems to be addressed so that a case like that of S. Deepa – whose child was abducted by her Muslim convert ex-husband – would not occur.
