PETALING JAYA: Malaysia is in the process of sending a team to Perth to assist in the search for debris and wreckage of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

The team will comprise staff from the Department of Civil Aviation, MAS, Royal Malaysian Navy and Royal Malaysian Air Force.

"This team will work closely with the Australian Rescue Co-ordination Centre to assist in the search operation," acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said in a press release on Thursday.

Hishammuddin said Thursday's search was called off at 11.40am due to deteriorating weather conditions.

"The planned area of search today was 16,298 square nautical miles in the West sector, and 6,506 square nautical miles in the East sector.

"The area identified by the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) on Wednesday – where the 122 potential objects were sighted – was also due to be searched today," said Hishammuddin.

On Wednesday, Hishammuddin said MRSA had identified 122 possible objects in a 400 square kilometer area based on an analysis of satellite photos provided by Airbus Defence and Space in France.

Beijing-bound Flight MH370, with 239 people on board, disappeared from the radar screen about an hour after taking off from KL International Airport on March 8.
