KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines on Thursday received a copy of the petition filed in a court in the United States on behalf of one of the passengers on board the missing MH370 flight against the aircraft manufacturer, Boeing Company, and the national carrier.

MAS said its lawyers have been briefed and are on standby to deal with the case "although it has not yet been formally served."

"We understand that this is not a lawsuit but a request through the courts for information," MAS said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.

Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, left KL International Airport at 12.41am on March 8 and disappeared from radar screens about an hour later while flying over the South China Sea.

It was to have landed in Beijing at 6:30 am on the same day.

A multinational search for the ill-fated aircraft is underway at the southern corridor of the Indian Ocean. - Bernama
