KAJANG: PKR candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said she was not aware of any plot to make her the next Selangor Mentri Besar, replacing Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
At a press conference on the eve of Kajang by-election at the party’s operations centre here, Wan Azizah just shook her head when asked if she was privy to the plan.
“As of now, Khalid is still the Mentri Nesar,” she said.
The prospect came amid earlier speculation that her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was to have replaced Khalid should he have become Kajang’s new assemblyman.
Anwar had said that the option of becoming MB was on the table, under the plan initiated by the party, dubbed the ‘Kajang Move’.
The move, would have seen the state becoming the administrative model as part of Pakatan Rakyat's plan to conquer Putrajaya.
However, Anwar’s plan was derailed after he was disqualified from running following the Court of Appeal’s overturning of his acquittal for sodomising his aide in 2008.
Selangor exco member, Elizabeth Wong, who was also present at the press conference stressed that there was no talk about changing the mentri besar.
“As a member of exco and central committee of PKR, there is no talk about changing the MB or anything like that.
“We want to focus on this by-election and win with higher majority as this is a referendum against all injustice especially against Anwar,” she said.Kajang by-election, set to be held Sunday, will see a straight fight between Wan Azizah and BN’s candidate Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.
