LOCAL singer and actress Erra Fazira (pic) will have to watch her behaviour and be mindful of her duties to her former husband Engku Emran Engku Zainal Abidin following her recent divorce, Kosmo! reported.

Independent Muslim preacher Mohd Fauzi Mustaffa said Erra, whose real name is Fazira Wan Chek, 40, is bound to observe the requirements under Islam during this edah or supervision period.

Among them is obtaining permission from Engku Emran for certain matters, including to leave the home.

“The sin is a grave one in Islam if the woman under edah does not follow the restrictions.”

Universiti Islam Antarabangsa lecturer Zaid Muhammad Mohd Rais said many Muslim women were unaware that they were bound under such conditions for 40-odd days if divorced in this manner.

They were commenting on reports of photographs of Erra and well-known singer and actor Awie hugging in a move to promote their upcoming Suara Kita theatre performance at Istana Budaya.

Erra and Engku Emran married in October 2007 and were officially divorced on Feb 18 this year.

Erra was previously married to Yusri Abdul Halim, which also ended in divorce.

> It was reported in Sinar Harian that army corporal Azizi Mohd Nor, 33, went missing while on jungle training and was not kidnapped by fairies as claimed in some news reports.

General of the 8th Brigade, Maj-Gen Datuk Mohamad Zaki Hamzah, said the doctors were currently examining Azizi.

“Whatever it is, we will have to wait for the doctor’s report. I rebut the claims that his (Azizi) disappearance is related to him being hidden by fairies or that it is a mystery,” he said.

The corporal went missing on Feb 19 during a jungle training exercise at the Lipur Lata Belatan Forest in Terengganu. He was found five days later in a crevice.
