KUALA LUMPUR: Until Communist Party of Malaya secretary-general Chin Peng mentioned it in his 2003 autobiography My Side of History, not many people knew that MCA founder Tun Tan Cheng Lock had once helped save a young CPM woman from the death sentence.
“Such was the low profile that Tan kept when dealing with this. If Chin Peng had not highlighted it, perhaps, no one would have known about it,” MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan (pic) said in an interview here.
