NUSAJAYA: A 15-year-old girl, initially believed to be a robbery victim, was detained after investigations showed she had instead assisted the robbers.
Nusajaya police chief Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said police found the report lodged by the girl about the robbery at a house in Taman Nusa Bestari on Feb 4, to be false.
"The complainant in the case collaborated with the suspect to make it look like a robbery. She was detained for further investigations," he told reporters here.
Supt Noor Hashim said during the 8.15pm incident, the girl was contacted by her 17-year-old former boyfriend to meet at the back of the house. When she opened the backdoor, her former boyfriend and three men rushed in.
"The former boyfriend then held a knife to her neck while his accomplices ransacked the house," he said.
Based on information, police detained three men at 3.30pm on Feb 6, in Mutiara Rini and recovered stolen items comprising two laptops, two mobile phones and jewellery.
Following the arrests, police believe they have solved several robberies which took place in the area since August last year and recovered items sold to a shop in Taman Seri Orkid, Skudai, as well as two sales and purchase receipts.
The suspects, aged between 15 and 21, would be remanded until Feb 20.
In another case, Supt Noor Hashim said a 36-year-old man and his 33-year-old companion were nabbed at a budget hotel in Taman Nusa Bestari at 4.30pm on Feb 14, for car jacking activities.
Police recovered 28 stolen items and car break-in tools from the suspects who are believed to have operated at Taman Nusa Bestari carparks.
The suspects were also positive for methamphetamine and would be remanded until Feb 18. - Bernama
