Kajang by-election: Nallakarupan reports over attempts to stop him from contesting

S. Nallakaruppan

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian United Indian Party (MUIP) president Datuk S. Nallakaruppan lodged a police report over attempts to stop him from contesting in the Kajang state by-election.

He wants police to investigate interference to stop his intention to contest after he announced it to the media last Tuesday.

He said on Feb 4, two men tried to obstruct his car near his house here and asked him not to stand in Kajang while another three men had gone to his house to ask him to do the same thing on Friday.

"I am also being disturbed by numerous calls that went silent when answered besides SMS that asked me not to contest," he said.

The by-election is being held after Kajang assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh resigned on Jan 27.

Besides Nallakarupan, who is a Senator, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also offered himself to stand in the Kajang state constituency on March 23. - Bernama
