KUALA LUMPUR: PAS Kedah commissioner Datuk Mahfuz Omar said the party is unfazed by Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir's threat to expose alleged discrepancies and mismanagement of the previous PAS-led administration.
Speaking to reporters at PAS headquarters here, Mahfuz, who is also the party's information chief, said that he welcomed the move with open arms.
"So far, we do not compromise or cover up any Pakatan Rakyat leaders who are said to be involved in mismanagement when we were in power between 2008 until 2013. I humbly welcome his move," he said.
It was reported that the Kedah Barisan Nasional government would proceed with declassifying documents on the alleged irregularities and mismanagement of the previous PAS-led administration in due time.
Mukhriz said the state government was scrutinising relevant documents before they are being made public.
Although he had said that it was not his style to dig up and expose other's misdeeds, Mukhriz said he was compelled to do so since PAS leaders in Kedah had started a smearing campaign to tarnish his administration's image.
However, Mahfuz stressed that throughout five years of the Islamist party administration in the state, no investigations were made against them.
"The power to arrest doesn't lie on the state government, but with Barisan as the federal government. Therefore, I would like to welcome Mukhriz to do so," said the Pokok Sena MP.
"He (Mukhriz) should answer all the allegations made against the state government now, not threaten us with this," he said.
