KLANG: Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim wants an explanation from a Chinese daily over its report that the PKR leadership has reportedly appointed Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali to replace him.

Khalid said the daily was asked to give the explanation before the Chinese New Year celebration.

"The speculation is not very good, so that is why I want an explanation from Sin Chew from where the story originated.

"This is because it will burden the people...if the story is true, it is alright but it is not good if it is not true," he told reporters after attending the state government 'Jom Shopping' programme here.

Khalid was reported to be under pressure, especially from the PKR leadership council members, to resign from his post.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution was quoted as saying that several council members had demanded for Khalid's resignation, which, however, was not a motion while the council did not make any such decision for him to resign. - Bernama
