KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) detained two senior Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) officials over false claims amounting to USD126,000 (RM378,000) while they were attached to the Malaysian Embassy in Washington in 2011.

In a press statement here, the MACC said the two officers, in their 40s, were detained at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya at 3.30pm and were being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2001 and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.

The statement said the duo were found to have made false claims for use of vehicles and logistical support during the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference in Hawaii in 2011. - Bernama
