Bersih 3.0: Magistrate's order barring entry to Dataran Merdeka beyond his jurisdiction, Court of Appeal rules

PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal here has set aside the Magistrate order barring the public from entering Dataran Merdeka during Bersih 3.0, rendering charges against Mohamed Azmin Ali and Chegubard over their participation in rally defective.

The panel, lead by Justice Linton Albert, unanimously allowed PKR deputy president Azmin and Rembau PKR chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin's application to set aside an order by magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir, prohibiting any assembly at Dataran Merdeka between April 28 and May 1, 2012.
