Man behind "riot" Facebook posting says did it "just for fun"

KUCHING: A 25-year-old Facebook account holder, pseudo-named Asmaelz Hadzeny II, has apologised for his "join the 'Himpunan Guling Kerajaan' rally" remark which allegedly incited people to riot.

Soon after he posted the remark on Facebook last month, the police arrested the jobless man on Dec 26 in Kampung Karambut in Saratok, about 400km from here.

He was brought to Bukit Aman and remanded until his released on Friday.

When met at the Kuching International Airport at 10.25pm after arriving from Kuala Lumpur, the man said:

"Sorry to all Malaysians for making the statement without thinking (of the consequences), just for fun calling for people to riot.

"(Action) not influenced by anyone."

The man was escorted by out of the arrival hall by police officers.

Federal CID director Comm Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah had said the case would be investigated for activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
