IPOH: For various reasons, many still waited until the last minute to do their Christmas shopping.
Among those who barely made it before Christmas was regional executive of the National Union of Plantation Workers I. Santhana Dass and his family.
Santhana, 56, and his teacher wife Suguna, 46, together with their three daughters Elana Su, 20, Anardshia Su, 16 and Tabitha Su, 15, waited until the last minute as Elana, who is studying medicine in Medan, only arrived home a few days ago.
The family had wanted to go shopping together for their Christmas preparation.
“We will be getting new clothes and groceries before heading for the midnight mass.
“Tomorrow (today) we will be having an open house for family and friends before we go visiting as well,” he said while shopping for a shirt at the Ipoh Parade shopping centre here yesterday.
Also seen shopping there was Gary Mui, 54, with his 85-year-old father Mui Ah Chai.
Gary said his parents, who live in Petaling Jaya, were visiting his family for Christmas.
“I have done my shopping but my father wanted to get some trousers and a shirt,” he said.
