Student visa woes not our fault, says Immigration dept

PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has denied that it is responsible for alleged cases of foreign students facing inordinate delays in receiving their visas after submitting their applications through the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).

“Since EMGS came into the picture, we have successfully cleared 19,400 backlogged files (involving student visa applications) in September this year. Whatever we have now is current, so there is no issue of delay,” said the department’s visa, pass and permit division director, Abdul Wahap Abdul Hamid.
