SINTOK: Lahad Datu hero Asst Supt Zulkifli Mamat, who was killed in a shootout with terrorists in Kampung Tanduo, Lahad Datu, Sabah, last March, received the post-humous Bachelor of Communication (Honours) degree at the 26th convocation of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) here.
The degree was presented by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, who is UUM Chancellor, to his widow Nor Aziah Noor, yesterday.
“My (late) husband had always wanted to pursue his degree and he managed to complete it on Feb 15.
“However, I still feel sad because I can vividly remember him asking me and his mother to receive the degree on his behalf should he not make it,” she said.
She also received reimbursement for ASP Zulkifli’s tuition fee of RM13,000 and a UUM staff donation amounting to RM20,739.
Also present at the convocation were their three sons, Noor Aqmar Amirudin, five, Noor Mohd Aqil, two, and Noor Aqib Syahid, two months.
