KUALA LUMPUR: Subang MP R. Sivarasa was ordered out of the Dewan Rakyat at 3.55pm on Wednesday by Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia for breaching Standing Orders.
During a debate on the allocation for City Hall under Budget 2014, Sivarasa had brought up the issue of a partially demolished Hindu temple in Jalan P. Ramlee when the Speaker interjected, saying the matter had already been brought up by Padang Serai MP N. Surendran.
Sivarasa was adamant in seeking clarification from the Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, forcing Pandikar to eject Sivarasa after repeated calls to drop the matter.
"The matter has already been decided with action taken. What makes you think that your interpretation of the rules (Dewan Standing Orders) is gospel truth above mine?" Pandikar said, before warning Sivarasa to sit down.
Sivarasa initially obliged, but stood up again to continue explaining his view of the matter, to which Pandikar exercised his powers under Rule 44 of the Standing Orders to ban him from the Dewan for two days.
Sepang MP Mohamed Hanipa Maidin stood up to demand that Pandikar recuse himself with regard to the issue raised, as the latter was involved in a similar incident on the same issue with Surendran.
However, Pandikar said there was no conflict of interest, warning Mohamed Hanipa that he too could be ejected if he continued to disrupt proceedings.
