KUALA LUMPURL: The Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) report on the National Feedlot Centre (NFCorp) scandal will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat next Tuesday.

PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamad said the report was submitted to the Dewan secretariat but was not tabled this week.

"I leave it to the secretariat to decide when to present it to the Parliament," he said in a press conference after the PAC meeting at the Parliament building on Tuesday.

Nur Jazlan said the PAC had made several recommendations, which they hoped would be undertaken by the authorities.

The Auditor-General's 2010 highlighted the NFCorp's failure to achieve its target of 8,000 heads of cattle that year.

The RM74mil centre in Gemas, Negri Sembilan only achieved 3,289 heads of cattle or 41% of the target.

During the PAC meeting yesterday, the committee met the Customs Department director-general and Inland Revenue Board chief executive officer on certain weaknesses concerning the collection of taxes.

Nur Jazlan said among the issues brought up were on late collection of taxes and that not all taxpayers made payments despite assessments being issued.

"For the Customs Department, we brought up issues about duty-free shops and how the department was monitoring tax collection from these premises," he said.

He said the department was in the process of upgrading its internal information technology system called U-Custom and a special tax collection mechanism for the Goods and Services Tax (GST), to be implemented in 2015.

"Currently the Customs' system on the GST is on trial run and should be ready by next month.

“However, I believe both systems (on GST and U-Custom) will be launched in 2015," said Nur Jazlan.

In his Budget 2014 speech, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that the 6% GST will be implemented beginning 2015 and will replace the sales and services tax.

On another matter, Nur Jazlan said the third series of the Auditor-General's Report 2012 will be released next Monday.
