KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) yesterday after being admitted on Nov 16 for chest infection.

A statement said Dr Mahathir, who was responding well to treatment, left the ward at 10.30am and he was accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

“He (Dr Mahathir) will, however, be required to continue with his exercise programme and physiotherapy,” the statement said.

While receiving treatment in IJN, Dr Mahathir, 88, received a visit from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Nov 23 and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Nov 19. — Bernama
