Kedah reps to receive higher allowance next month


ALOR SETAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir tabled a surplus of RM2.7mil for his maiden 2014 budget which included an increase in allowance for the 36 state assemblymen.

The assemblymen’s allowance, which is the lowest in the country, will be increased from RM1,049 to RM1,300 starting next month, and this will bring their monthly income to RM6,961 from RM5,661.
