KUCHING: DAP has sacked its Pujut assemblyman Fong Pau Teck (pix) for "going against the party" in the May general election.
Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen confirmed that the decision was made by the party's Disciplinary Committee.
He said Fong had defied the state committee's decision to field Eunice Lim for the Miri constituency in the GE13.
"We referred him to the party's Disciplinary Committee headed by Tan Kok Wai in June.
"Not long after that, Fong wrote to the State Legislative Assembly to terminate his monthly contribution of 10% of his salary to the party," he said.
It was a combination of Fong's defiance and his own action to terminate the compulsory monthly contribution that led the party to come to this decision today, Chong told The Star.
An elected state representative receives RM15,000 monthly in salary.
