KUALA LUMPUR: A Sessions judge ruled in favour of the prosecution in not granting bail to a youth charged with raping a 13-year-old girl last week.

Judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid granted the application by Chief Insp Nom Phot Prackit after the charge was read to the 19-year-old accused, Shah Reza Zulkifli, on Friday.

She said bail should not be allowed as the accused knew the victim and the victim's house. She added that the girl was also raped by nine other men.

The accused claimed trial to raping the girl in a room at Taman Seri Permaisuri in Cheras here between 2pm and 4.30pm on Oct 30. He was accused under Section 367(1) of the Penal Code.

The court later set Dec 9 for mention. The accused was unrepresented.
