KUALA LUMPUR: A school dropout from Malacca who made remarks insulting Islam on Facebook was arrested by police on Thursday.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the 17-year-old was picked up by police in Bandar Hilir, Malacca at 3pm and was later handed over to officers from the Dang Wangi police district headquarters here.

"He is being investigated under Section 4 (1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948," ACP Zainuddin told reporters late Thursday.

It is believed he was released on police bail at midnight.

According to ACP Zainuddin, the suspect, who lives in Petaling Jaya, had dropped out of school two years ago and was fond of playing computer games.

Police were also trying to locate another person who had replied to the teenager's posting.
