KUALA LUMPUR: Businesswoman Jessie Ooi (pix) is hoping to make history in MCA by becoming the first female state Youth chief.
At the close of nominations at 8pm on Monday, 0oi, 34, has been accepted to contest against her male competitor, Chong Sin Woon, for the Selangor Youth chief's post.
Ask on her chances of winning, Ooi, a mother of three children, said: "I think I have a chance of winning."
Elsewhere, six incumbent state Wanita chiefs - Datuk Lee Pit Chern (Negri Sembilan), Datuk Heng Seai Kie (Perak) Datuk Lim Nget Yoon (Pahang), Lee Liew Loo (Kelantan), Datuk Lim Bee Kau (Kedah) and Wang Kim Lian (Perlis) - retained their seat uncontested.
At 62, Lee who is the Negri Sembilan Wanita chief since 1986 is the longest serving state chief.
The nomination for MCA state elections for Youth and Wanita was held between 4pm and 8pm nationwide today while elections for the Youth is on Saturday and Wanita on Sunday.
