A DELHI High Court refused bail to a man who hid his marital status to marry again, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Justice Hima Kohli said the man, whose name was reported only as Ahmed, did not deserve any protection since he had not helped the police investigation or returned the dowry of the woman he allegedly duped.
The woman had reported to the police she was led to believe Ahmed was a bachelor, which he also said in a court affidavit filed after he married her. However, she later discovered from his ration card details that he was already married.
She alleged Ahmed also hid his religion, claiming he got her consent for marriage based on false information.
She decided to lodge a police report after she discovered Ahmed’s true identity and his past marriage.
