Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun (front row, third from right) said at a press conference on Wednesday that six MCA divisions in Penang pledged their support for party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

The six divisions were represented by their respective chairmen in a show of solidarity during a press conference at the state MCA headquarters in Jalan Pahang on Wednesday.

They are Datuk Koay Kar Huah (Bukit Gelugor), Datuk Dr Loh Hock Hun (Tanjong), Ooi Siew Kim (Bayan Baru), Tang Heap Seng (Bukit Bendera), Chuah Tee Sung (Balik Pulau) and Chuah Chin Chuon (Jelutong).

Dr Loh, who is Penang MCA deputy chairman, said the support for Dr Chua was one of four resolutions passed during a meeting last week.

"Besides urging Dr Chua to consider defending his post as party president in the coming party election, we also pass a resolution of no-confidence in deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai to helm the party," he said.

The other two resolutions were that all newly elected central delegates should attend the EGM on Oct 20 to decide on the major issues facing the party and party members should stay united and contribute to whatever they can to move the party forward.
