GEORGE TOWN: Observing a strict vegetarian diet during the Nine Emperor Gods Festival has been an annual practice for factory general supervisor Leong Kok Fai and his family.

Leong, 40, said his wife Wong Wai Cheng, also 40, and daughter Eunice Leong Shi Ying, five, would go on the diet for 10 days, beginning on the eve of the festival.
