LANGKAWI: The beautiful island of Langkawi was transformed into a fashionable gem overnight with the launch of In Style Langkawi (ISL) , infusing the usually laid back idyllic environment with a touch of pizzazz and glamour.

The patron of In Style Langkawi, Her Royal Highness Tungku Panglima Besar Kedah Dato Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaaz binti Tuanku Abdul
Halim Mu’adzam Shah officiated the launch at the Danna Hotel, in Perdana Quay, Langkawi.

ISL, a two-day trade fair, featured some 40 home-grown brands with a mix of designs and products ranging from apparels, jewellery, art bags, personal care products and home décor items.

Encik Faisol Abdullah, the managing director for ISL said the trade fair had so much to offer and he is already planning for next year.

"A lot of the brands participating are SMEs with labels and have previously transacted online only. So this platform allows them to take their products to the next level," he said.

On the second day of the fair, a panel of distinguished personalities with inner knowledge and invaluable know-how of launching a brand to an international stage known as The Trusted Circle held a forum with the vendors to help them develop and market their products.

The line up of the trusted circle featured personalities such as Datin Seri Bettina Khan and Miss Aureen Jean Nonis, director of the lifestyle section of MATRADE.

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahatir Mohammad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Ali also visited the fair on the second day.

Tradewinds Corporation Berhad shared with the media their plans in developing Langkawi, mainly the Perdana Quay area over the next decade with world-class attractions.

ISL is supported by Tourism Malaysia and Langkawi Development Authority.
