Penang Starwalk 2013 sees more than 21,000 participants

GEORGE TOWN: A sea of people converged on to the Penang Starwalk 2013 as more than 21,000 participants took part in one of the state's biggest annual sporting event.

The walk was flagged off by Penang Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas together with The Star's acting CEO Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai as well as its executive director Tan Sri Kamal Hashim and other VIPs at 7.15am Sunday.

Despite dark clouds looming above and a short drizzle before the flagged off, walkers cheered as the skies cleared in time for the start.

The crowd was so big that it took more than 15 minutes for the walkers to pass the starting point.

Penang Starwalk, which is in its 36th edition is organised by The Star and Penang Amateurs Athletic Association.
