Nik Aziz denies calling for ulama to fill PAS deputy president post

KOTA BARU: PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat denied that he wanted an ulama (cleric) to fill the number two post within his party, and accused the mainstream newspapers, including Sinar Harian, of attempting to split the party.

In an interview posted on the online version of the PAS organ, Harakahdaily, he said it was a clear attempt to drive a wedge between the professionals and the ulama in the party as it heads towards its internal election in November.
