SPAD chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said the commission did not oppose a call by public transport companies for higher fares.
"However, the decision to increase fares can only be done after SPAD studies the rates comprehensively and wholistically for the Government to make the appropriate move," he said in a statement.
