GEORGE TOWN: Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has received an overwhelming number of applications for its new academic intake.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Omar Osman said students were now drawn to courses that previously did not interest them.
"Some of the courses which were once shunned by students are now drawing them and the number of applications has exceeded the overall application for admission this year, which totalled more than 25,000," he said in a statement here.
This year the university has taken in 4,684 students, with 3,272 who will be studying at the main campus in George Town, 678 students at the Engineering Campus at Nibong Tebal and 734 at its Health Campus in Kelantan.
