IPOH: There is a superstition surrounding the seventh month of the Chinese calendar (Aug 7-Sept 5), known as the Ghost Month, that it usually spells bad business for hotels and restaurants catering to Chinese weddings.
However, the hotel and restaurant industry here has seen a surge in the number of wedding dinner reservations from the eighth month onwards, which would cover the loss in business during the slow period.
