School buses over 30 years old to be scrapped by next year

PETALING JAYA: Some 2,000 school bus operators nationwide will be forced to scrap buses that are more than 30 years old by next year as the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) would no longer allow them to operate.

According to the SPAD chairman, Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, previous extensions were granted after the affected school bus operators complained that it was expensive to change their buses, and they needed time to do so.
