PETALING JAYA: Tired of enduring daily abuse at the hands of her employer, an Indonesian maid ran away from her employer’s house to lodge a police report.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaidi Bujang said the last assault that prompted the 30-year-old maid to lodge a report against her employer occurred on Thursday.
“The victim was washing clothes at about 7pm when her employer hit her with her hands, feet and a floor brush.
“She was beaten because of her slow pace of work,” he said in a statement.
The victim, Supt Junaidi said, was brought to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for medical check-up and it was discovered that she had bruises, injuries and scars all over her body.
“She will be placed in a women’s shelter as she is afraid to go back to her boss’ house,” he added.
The victim has been working in Malaysia for eight months with her employer in Shah Alam.
Her 40-year-old employer was contacted by police and she turned herself in at the Sungai Buloh police district headquarters on the same day.
She has been remanded for four days since yesterday.
