Couple convicted of starving maid to death get to stay out of jail pending appeal


GEORGE TOWN: A High Court here granted a couple a stay of execution and bail pending an appeal against their 24-year jail sentence for starving their Cambodian maid to death.

Justice Zamani Abdul Rahim set bail at RM150,000 each in two sureties each for hardware store owner Soh Chew Tong, 44, and his wife Chin Chui Ling, 41, who were found guilty on May 16 of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
