Penang freak storm: A-G to hold inquest into Lim's death

GEORGE TOWN: The Attorney-General's Chamber has agreed to hold an inquest into the death of economy rice seller Lim Chin Aik, believed to be buried in Jalan Macalister following a freak storm on June 13.

Lim, 44, was believed to be driving in front of Menara Umno during the storm when a concrete structure fell and crashed into his car burying them some 40m deep into the ground.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the inquest would be scheduled from Sept 2 to 6 at the Sessions Court 1 here.

The family has been informed by the case investigating officer.

"We hope this can shed more light into the case," he told a press conference at the Sungai Nibong police station here.
