The Star artist dies after heart attack

PETALING JAYA: Mohd Salleh Sapawi (pic), an editorial artist with The Star, died yesterday at the age of 53.

He had been with the company for the last 13 years.

His wife Zaiton Othman, 49, said Salleh had a heart attack at 1am yesterday at his apartment in Kota Damansara here.

He had just arrived home here after spending the weekend with his family, most of whom live in Malacca.

Salleh, who lived with one of his sons here, was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital and died at 10am yesterday.

Zaiton said Salleh was a loving husband.

“He would call three or four times daily to ask about the family and would return home to Malacca every weekend when he was not working,” she said.

Salleh leaves behind three sons and two daughters – Azizan, 26, Faszlin, 19, Fauzi, 10, Siti Nurhidayah, 23, and Nurul Zahirah, 17. He was buried at the Paya Rumput Muslim cemetery in Malacca.
