Double tragedy hits family of Vincent Tan's nephew killed in car crash



MALACCA: A nephew of billionaire philanthropist Tan Sri Vincent Tan was killed when his car collided with a trailer along the North South Expressway early Friday.

But tragedy struck the family again hours after the death of Kevin Tan Eng Hoe, 36, who died instantly in the 6.45am mishap at Km182 southbound near Jasin. 

Kevin's father-in-law Ung Teong Chuan, 60, collapsed and died at the Jasin Hospital where the family had arrived to claim his body.

Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Muhd Nur Hishamuddin Hashim said Kevin's black Toyota Vellfire vehicle was overtaking the trailer when both vehicles collided and the Toyota crashed into the road divider railings.


Kevin's driver, Hazli Norhizam, 35, has been warded at Jasin Hospital for injuries to his hand.

Police have taken statements of the drivers of both vehicles.
