SOME Chinese women have resorted to using various methods — including having a medical certificate attesting that they were virgins — to catch the attention of rich men during match-making events in Wuhan, China, reported Nanyang Siang Pau.

It had been reported that a woman graduate from a rural area had managed to win the heart of a rich man when she produced a certificate to prove that she was a virgin.

Wu Yan, who claimed she never had a boyfriend, had taken part in a match-making event in 2012, during which 30 women had to vie for the attention of eight rich bachelors.

When asked what “advantage” she had over the other contenders, she had said she was a virgin and produced a certificate issued by a hospital as proof.

She managed to catch the attention of several men and married a property developer in Wuhan last year.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that Hong Kong artistes Shawn Yue Man-lok and Kary Ng finally ended their one-year relationship last Sunday.

Ng had previously denied the news that they had broken up because she had been trying to get back together with Yue.
