Najib leads MPs in taking oath of office in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: The term of the 13th Parliament opened Monday with all 222 MPs taking their oath of office, pledging their loyalty to the country and to defend the Federal Constitution.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was the first MP to be sworn in, followed by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The 133 Barisan Nasional MPs were sworn in first, with the 89 Opposition MPs, led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, following later.

Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia was re-elected as the Dewan Rakyat Speaker after a ballot was taken among the MPs.
