KUALA LUMPUR: GE13: Controversial Gombak Setia state assemblyman Hasan Ali, who was sacked from PAS, will not contest in the May 5 general election.
“I am thankful for the trust shown by the Umno and Barisan leadership but given the feedback and the opportunity of having stood for three general elections, I have decided to opt out of GE13,” he said on Friday.
He has pledged to support Umno and Barisan Nasional via his non-governmental organisation Jati.
Hasan, in a statement said although he had received offers to contest, he declined after considering feedback from various parties.
He added that he was more comfortable defending the rights of Islam, Malays and the Royal institution.
Umno friendly Hasan is currently the president on non-governmental organisation JATI said he prefers defending the rights of Islam,Malays and the Royal Institution in the country.
Hasan also said he and fellow Jati members would fully mobilise their resources to ensure Umno and Barisan won the elections
He said Umno's win during GE13 will ensure the people will be saved from a disaster that is bound to happen if Pakatan is allowed to rule the country.
