PETALING JAYA: With less than 24 hours to nomination, Kelana Jaya Umno secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Samad has been announced as the candidate for the Seri Setia (N32) state seat, replacing Datuk Dr Tengku Rethwan Tengku Mansor.

Selangor Barisan Nasional deputy election director Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed announced this change during a press conference at the Selangor Umno headquarters in Shah Alam on Friday.

“Dr Rethwan has voluntarily withdrawn his candidacy,” said Mohd Zin, declining to comment on allegations that grassroots supporters of Abdul Halim have been protesting against Dr Rethwan's candidacy since the announcement.
