KUALA LUMPUR: To encourage Malaysians to stay up to date with GE13, YES 4G mobile broadband service is offering 3GB of extra mobile data for those who subscribe to postpaid plans between now and May 5.
YTL Communications CEO Wing K. Lee said this was part of the “Vote YES” campaign aimed at giving people quick access to online information.
“GE13 will be the first elections where on-the-go social media is as important as mainstream media in shaping public opinion.
“With YES, people nationwide can have access to the latest updates and a content platform window into GE13,” he said, adding that the YES World content portal featured news from various agencies.
Also present to promote the mobile data service during a ceremony here yesterday were Malaysian-born shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo, TV personality Yasmin Ha-ni-Richardson and YTL Corporation Berhad executive director Datuk Yeoh Soo Keng.
Choo said it was important for the electorate to be educated on policies from both sides before casting their ballots.
“Most importantly, after GE13, we as the people must support those elected regardless of party,” he said.
Yasmin, 34, hoped YES 4G would make the issue of elections and politics more accessible to the youth.
“When I was young, I was kind of ignorant and did not realise its (elections) importance,” Yasmin said.
YES' Unlimited Super Postpaid Plans come in four packages, offering data usage of 1.5GB, 4GB, 6GB and 10GB monthly.
Charges range from RM48 to RM168 a month.
YES, which connects a 10 million population of students, parents and teachers, provides 4G speed and connectivity in every town in Malaysia.
