‘Bomb’ to get rid of mosquitoes goes awry


A 10-YEAR-OLD boy and his mother were injured in a septic tank explosion after they placed a “calcium carbide bomb” in the tank to get rid of mosquitoes.

Zakuan Syahmi Zaili was thrown at least three metres away during the explosion and was left with severe burns on his face and several parts of his body.
